Alice Mae Ferguson Cartwright
(August 19, 1927 - January 23, 2017)



Alice Mae Ferguson Cartwright, age 89, passed from this life on January 23, 2017. No more fear, pain or confusion. She sings and dances in her heavenly home reunited with loved ones she cherished throughout her life. Funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel in Barboursville, WV, with Alice Mae’s nephew Pastor David Cartwright officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Huntington, WV. Alice Mae was born to the late Wyatt and Marie Johnson Ferguson on August 19, 1927. She was a graduate of Huntington East High and attended Marshall College. She married her husband of 66 years, the late Raymond Cartwright in 1946. Also preceding her in death, a brother Wyatt Ferguson Jr. who was killed in action in World War II. Alice Mae was a loving wife, devoted mother and adoring grandmother. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter Judy Walker of Cary, NC and her son Marshall (Aimee) Cartwright of Clermont, FL; grandchildren, Alica (David) Abbe of Wake Forest, NC, Jason (Michele) Cartwright of Eleanor, WV, Leigh Walker of Belmont, NC, Wyatt (April) Cartwright of Clermont, FL, and Christopher (Tiffany) Walker of Leland, NC; great- grandchildren, Lauren, Hannah and Jackson Cartwright, Tyler and Sydney Abbe, Emma and Haley Cartwright, and Tristan, Xavier, Knox, Daisy and Isaac Walker; brother-in-law Jim (Lula) Cartwright of Johnson City, TN and sister-in-law Willie Ashworth of Prescott, AZ; and several loving nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their heart felt appreciation to the staff of Midland Meadows Senior Care of Ona, WV and Hospice of Huntington for their compassionate care of their mother.
