Obituary

Barbara Anne Kelley James
(July 15, 1939 - October 27, 2017)

BARBARA ANNE KELLEY JAMES, 78, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October, 27, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Barbara was born in Greenville, S.C., on July 15, 1939, and was a graduate of Parker High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Hazel Watson, and her brothers, Robert Kelley, Joe Kelley, Charles Watson and Harold Watson. She is survived by her sister, Linda Stockman of Ninety-Six, S.C.; and her four children, Karen (Jim) Bledsoe of Fairmont, W.Va., Paul (Kim) James of Huntington, Kelley (Mikey) Crompton of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Stephen (Melanie) James of Huntington. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who love her dearly; along with her faithful, furry companion, Savannah. Barbara retired from K-Mart in Huntington after many years of service and numerous special friendships made, but her true life's work and her greatest passion was raising children. It made no difference if you were her own child, one of their friends, a child she had been hired to babysit, a church youth group member or a part of the countless sports teams and cheer-leading squads she was involved with; if you were one of her kids for a moment, you were one of her kids for life. She showed you how to love without limits. Your life was fuller because she was a part of it. The family would like to thank her many friends at the Huntington High Renaissance building, her River Cities Community Church family and the staff at Heartland of Riverview and Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for all their love, prayers, support and care during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held at noon on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, in Barboursville, with Dr. Larry Greene officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington.
