Mary Frances Dennison Lewis
(February 14, 1921 - October 31, 2017)



MARY FRANCES DENNISON LEWIS, 96, of Ona, passed away Tuesday morning, October 31, 2017. Born February 14, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Ivan Earl Dennison and the late Julia Ann Nance Dennison of Ona. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cline Lewis, brothers Ivan Elwood Dennison, John Dennison and Raymond Ray Dennison and infant granddaughter Melanie Renee Porter. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Ann Lewis Porter and son-in-law, Emil Porter of Ona, two grandchildren, Mark E. Porter of Milton and Kimberly Ann Porter of Ona, four great-grandchildren, Cassie, Jacob, Luke and Emily, and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Ethel Qualls and brother, George (Rhonda) Dennison of Ona, sister-in-law, Fay Fields of Milton, and many nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Southerton-Martz Beauty School, she was an instructor there for a while. She worked as a hairdresser for over 50 years in her own shop, Fran's Beauty Shop, in Ona. She adored all of her grandchildren and always lit up at the mention of their names. She enjoyed needlework, jigsaw puzzles, and many other hobbies at which she excelled. She was the family matriarch and was always ready to entertain with her stories of long-ago relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, by Rev. Jerry Ryder and Pastor Paul Meadows. Burial will be in Blue Sulphur Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
