Matthew William Murphy
(August 7, 1982 - November 1, 2014)

Matthew William Murphy, 32, of Proctorville, OH, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014, at his residence. He was born August 7, 1982 in Huntington, WV a son of Ron and Melody Pickett Murphy of Proctorville. In addition to his parents, survivors include: his wife, Jennifer Mays Murphy; a daughter, Taylor Murphy; and a son, Chase Murphy, all of Proctorville; a sister, Michelle (David) Kendrick of South Carolina; his maternal grandmother, Jean Pickett of Proctorville; his paternal grandmother, Betty Murphy of Gainesville, FL; his mother-in-law, Regina (Randy) Ferris of Proctorville; father-in-law, Randy (Cindy) Mays of Kitts Hill, OH; sister-in-law, Brandi (Michael) Robbins of South Carolina; and brother-in-law, Justin Mays of Kitts Hill, OH. His maternal grandfather, Lee Pickett and his paternal grandfather, Lloyd Murphy, preceded him in death. He was an electrician with IBEW Local #317; was a member of Rome Church of Christ; and was a former volunteer with the Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Minister Tim Gainer officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Pallbearers will be Kyle Patton, Tyson Buckley, David Kendrick, Ron Murphy, Josh Williams, and R.J. Finney. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 pm Wednesday at Chapman’s Mortuary.
