Genevie Fry Peters
(December 15, 1920 - November 24, 2014)



Genevie Fry Peters, 93, of Huntington, WV. widow of Charles H. Peters, went Home to be with her Lord, Monday, November 24, 2014, at Midland Meadows Senior Living, Ona, WV. She was born December 15, 1920 in Huntington, a daughter of the late Guy and Stella Fry and was preceded in death by a sister Octovene Fry Thacker, and two nephews, Randall Thacker and Tom Fry. Survivors include: a brother Carroll and Mary Fry of Huntington, Wv. Children: Justine and Fred Abraham of Huntington, WV., Brenda and David McComas of Proctorville OH., Lynnette and Major Simms of Huntington WV., and Eugene and Carla Peters of Ona, WV. Grandchildren: Amy Abraham, Rebecca (Joe) Keharara, Sarah (Carl) Daley, Douglas McComas, Tara (Terry) Farren, Matthew McComas, Jason (Marcie) Simms, Jonathan (Jenn) Simms, Jennifer Simms, Angela (Richard) Bryant, Charles Eugene Peters Jr., Nephew David Fry, and Special Niece Lucretia Burrows, 18 Great-grandchildren and 10 Great-great-grandchildren. Genevie was a former employee of Anderson-Newcomb Department Store in Huntington where during the Annual Dinner, she was the entertainment director, which was always a highlight with her 'own brand of humor'. She was a member of New Baptist Church, a charter member of Eighteenth Street Baptist Church and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star OES 89. Once retired, Genevie and her husband Charles enjoyed traveling with tour groups and made their annual trip to Florida. Later in life she also enjoyed arranging flowers, which she would then place on her husband's grave. The Family would like to thank the Staff and Management of Midland Meadows Senior Living, Ona WV. Sincere thanks to special care givers; Cindy, Ronda, Meghan, and Nicki. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary on Friday, November 28th from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Guyandotte Chapter #89 OES will conduct services at 7:00 pm Friday. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Trent Eastman and Rev. Kim Miller on Saturday, November 29th at 10:00am at Chapman's Mortuary in Huntington, followed by graveside services at Woodmere Cemetery Mausoleum. Chapman's Mortuary, in Huntington, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of New Baptist Church.
