Shelby Gene Thornton
(February 5, 1937 - November 1, 2014)

Shelby Gene Thornton, 77, of Huntington, WV, formerly of South Charleston, WV, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. He was born February 5, 1937 in Ruth, WV a son of the late George and Myrtle Burdette Thornton. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Hall. He attended South Charleston High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Survivors include: two sons, Todd Thornton of Lancaster, OH and Bill (Sheila) Garten of Huntington; a brother, Bill (Pat) Thornton of Melbourne, FL; and grandchildren, Robert & Amanda Kristy of Huntington. The family would like to thank a special friend, Carla Johnson. There will be no services. Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
