Carl H. Blevins
(January 7, 1934 - January 5, 2014)



Carl H. Blevins, 79, Huntington, WV passed on Sunday, January 5th. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, January 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Reger Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, January 10th at 1 p.m. by Rev. Jamie Gump at the Reger Funeral Chapel, followed by graveside services to include Masonic rites by Crescent Lodge #32 AF&AM of Ceredo and Military rites. Carl was born on January 7th, 1934. He was the son of the late Emmet Wells Blevins, Lillian Raines-Blevins-McComas and Step-father Clifford H. McComas. He was preceded in death by one son, Bradly H. Blevins and a sister, Delores McComas-Connally. He is survived by his wife, Donna Edmonds-Blevins; son Mark (Rose) of Suffolk, VA; son Joe of Huntington; grandchildren Melissa (CA), Alexandra (VA), Michael (VA) and Kara Ann (IL) and the mother of his children, Patricia Damron-Blevins of Huntington. He is also survived by brothers Tommy and Charles McComas of Huntington. Carl cherished the time spent with all his nieces and nephews, and would travel to Arizona to see them often. He was an Army veteran, and served his country in Korea. His civilian career spanned across the Huntington Police Department (Lieutenant 20 years) and Huntington Veteran Affairs Medical Center (18 years) where he served as the AFGE union President for 16 years. He led efforts to mentor local youth through coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams. He had a passion for the sport of boxing, and supported local Golden Gloves activities. He loved boating and entertaining friends along the Ohio River many summers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Masonic Scholarship Endowment Trust of WV, P.O. Box 2907 Wilson, NC 27894-2907.
