Matthew Kevin Reese
(July 6, 1965 - January 5, 2014)



Matthew Kevin Reese, 48, of Huntington, passed away Sunday January 5, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1pm Thursday at the Abbey of Remembrance at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, by Father Dean Borgmeyer. Burial will follow. He was born July 6 1965 in Huntington, WV, a son of Susan Key Bonene Reese and the late Harry Jennings Reese. He was a roller with Special Metals of Huntington. Matthew was a veteran of the US Navy attaining the rank of Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16 of Huntington and also attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Luke and Betty Bonene. Additional survivors include his wife of 19 years, Iva Christine Reese; daughter and son in law Amber and Patrick Wheeler of Milton, WV; two granddaughters Lindsey Nicole Bailey and Lydia Faith Wheeler; three brothers David L. Reese and Wayne Reese both of Huntington and Christopher Reese and his finance Sara Collins of Proctorville, Ohio; two sisters Beth Ann Reese of Louisville, KY and Wendy Reese of Huntington; several nephews and beloved friends and co-workers. Friends may call from noon until service time Thursday at the Abbey of Remembrance at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. The Veterans Honor Guard of American Legion Post 16 of Huntington will conduct graveside military rites. Reger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
