Obituary

Ruth Bocook
(August 6, 1922 - January 30, 2014)



Ruth Bocook, 91, of Huntington, went to be with her loving husband of 63 years, John Bocook, on Thursday January 30, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Monday at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Barboursville, by Pastor Jamie Gump. Burial will follow. She was born August 6, 1922 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late William Harry and Dessie Morrison Harrison. Ruth retired from Polan Industries after 35 years of service and also retired after 5 years of service at Stone and Thomas. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Ruth was an avid supporter of Marshall University Sports especially the Thundering Herd Football Team. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers Charles, Paul and Bobby Harrison and three sisters Wanda Harrison, Helen Crabtree and Ermina Farley. Survivors include her daughter Sherry and her companion Darrell Watts of Charlotte, NC; two sisters Betty (Larry) Bowen of Conyers, GA. and Mary (Martin) Maddox of Canton, GA.; two sisters in law Norma Harrison of Huntington and Karen Harrison of Wilmington, NC; brother in law Dewey Bocook of Huntington and sister in law Norma Chapman of Alabama; many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her loving neighbors and niece Barbara Napier who helped watch over Ruth and a special thanks to friends Patricia Brumfield, Joyce Jones and Pam Ward. Ruth was a caring, loving, giving and forgiving person who loved all her family and friends. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Friends may call from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm Monday at the Reger Funeral Home. A procession will leave from the funeral home for the cemetery at 12:30 Monday.
