William Edward Browning
(July 26, 1925 - July 8, 2013)



William Edward Browning, 87, Huntington, WV, died peacefully in a Macon, Georgia hospital last Monday, July 8, 2013. He was born July 26, 1925 a son of the late Edward and Lela Browning. He joined the Marine Corps as a teenager in World War II and served in the Pacific Theatre. After the war, he graduated from Marshall University in Huntington and was employed by the U.S. Treasury Department for the next 35 years. Bill and his wife, Deanie, spent the last 40 years in Jacksonville, FL. He was always active and social and loved his Florida lifestyle. Upon retirement, golf became his mainstay. He was on the committee for the TPC as well as a volunteer. His other activities included the Elk’s Club and VFW. He was a perfect example of the Greatest Generation. He had intelligence, patience, humor, loyalty and was greatly respected. He will be dearly missed by friends and his extended family. Preceding him in death was his wife of 60 years, Deanie and daughter, Patti Beth. He is survived by: a daughter, Sally (Pete) Bizzle of Macon, GA; three grandchildren, Shanda (Marshall) Davidson of Birmingham, AL, David William Bizzle of Columbus, GA; Amanda (Ryan) Collins of King Salmon, Alaska; and two brothers, Carl Browning and Ray (Margie) Browning, of Huntington. He was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Ryan Holder and Ansley Marie Collins of Alaska. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington, with military graveside rites conducted by the Marine Corps League. Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations to your favorite charity.
