 Inez Phipps
(July 9, 1923 - July 8, 2013)


Inez Love Phipps, 89, died Monday July 8, 2013, and her husband, Dr. James L. “Jack” Phipps, 90, died Tuesday July 9, 2013, both at Woodlands Retirement Community. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday July 12, 2013 at First United Methodist Church Huntington with Dr. Mark Conner officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Inez was born July 9, 1923 in Glen Jean, WV a daughter of the late Clyde H. & Nellie Grace Banks Love. She attended Charleston School of Commerce. Until her marriage to Jack on September 3, 1949, she was employed as a stenographer by the Department of Public Assistance in Huntington and later worked for the Social Security Administration. One brother, Clyde Love, Jr, and three sisters, Madelyn Burdette, Laura Copsey and Irene Love, preceded her in death. Survivors include her brother, Stanley Love of Greenwood Village, Colo. and several nieces & nephews. Dr. Phipps was born July 6, 1923 in Huntington, WV a son of the late James L. & Maude M. Stewart Phipps. He graduated from Marshall College and served three years in the Navy during WWII. He enrolled in the Ohio School of Chiropody in Cleveland and worked on a Doctor of Surgical Chiropody degree from which he later graduated. He was a member of Epsilon Delta honorary pre-medical fraternity. He later became a Podiatrist in Huntington and a member of the Rotary Club. A sister, Ruth Longwell, preceded him in death. Survivors are nieces & nephews. Friends may call at the First United Methodist Church Thursday July 11, 2013 from 6PM to 8PM. Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington is assisting the family.
