Ethel Beneda Hood, 85, of Proctorville, OH, formerly of Huntington, passed away Sunday June 2, 2013 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 pm Tuesday June 4, 2013 at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Douglas Hickman officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Ethel was born February 10, 1928, in Fola, WV, a daughter of the late James Shelton and Dessie Elizabeth Neal Nottingham. She worked at the former Huntington Department Store and retired from Gutherie Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert Latrelle Hood; four brothers and five sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Eileen (Arnold) Gould of Wilson, NC, and Myrtle (Rick) Cobern of Proctorville, OH; four grandsons, Arnold Gould, Jr., James Gould (Mary), Darrick Cobern, Justin Cobern (Danielle), and one granddaughter, Beneda Clay (Tim); six great grandsons, William “Joey”, Cole and Ryan Clay, Alanden Latrelle Cobern, Chad and Corey Brown; one great granddaughter, Makalah Cobern; and one sister, Cora Fugate of Indore, WV. Ethel also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Friends may call at Chapman’s Mortuary after 11:00 am until service time on Tuesday.
