Obituary

Peggy Ann Dempsey
(August 8, 1940 - July 11, 2014)


Peggy Ann Dempsey, 73, of Lavalette, WV, wife of Rev. James C. Dempsey, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 11, 2014, from the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born August 8, 1940, in Chesapeake, OH, a daughter of the late John and Ruby Amos Blair. Two sisters and four brothers have also preceded her in death. Peggy had worked formerly for Pharmor and H&L Green and was a homemaker and minister’s wife. She was a member of the WV United Methodist Conference, and formerly an avid bowler. In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Cindy Church of Caldwell, OH; a son, John Dempsey of Lavalette; granddaughter, Jo Ann Shaffer and husband, Jarod, of Dayton, PA.; two great granddaughters, Faith Ann Church and Weylin Shaffer; and two sisters, Dolly Blake of North Carolina, and Felma Webb and husband Claude Webb of Kenova, WV. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, July 14, 2014, at the White Chapel Mausoleum, with Rev Tom Williams and Rev. Carol K. McKay officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Friends may visit after 10:30 am Monday, until service time. Donations may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
