Alfred "Nelson" Paden
(April 15, 1924 - July 19, 2014)



Alfred “Nelson” Paden, 90, of Huntington, WV & Ft Lauderdale, FL, passed away Saturday July 19, 2014 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday July 22, 2014 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Dwight Mays of Christ Temple Church officiating. Entombment will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Nelson was born April 15, 1924 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Alfred Nelson Paden, Sr. & Ruth Guthrie Paden Cales. He was a retired Captain from the Huntington Police Department, Owned his own professional photographic business. Served in World War II in the Army Air Corps (Air Force). His photography experience was utilized for two years in the ETO serving in most European countries, covering many events & assignments. He also was a commercial pilot and owned his own plane. He graduated from Marshall University & the FBI National Academy in Washington, DC. He was a Kentucky Colonel, life member of VFW Post 1064 & American Legion Post 16, FOP Gold Star Lodge # 65. He was the oldest living Lt. Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol of West Virginia. He was still doing various assignments in Aerial, Pictorial & Forensic Photography. He was a hand writing analyst for the Police Department & many lawyers in WV. In addition to his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by his son Gary Nelson Paden, two brothers, Robert “Bobby” Paden and David Paden. He is survived by his loving wife George Anne “Phyllis Deskins Paden, daughter & son-in-law, Brenda Meador (Allen), grandchildren, Cheryl Meador, Allen Meador, II, Lisa Maack, Jason Stuiter, Summer Dawn Bailey, Michelle Paden, & Josh Paden and nine great-grandchildren. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military rites. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House or Ronald McDonald House. Friends may call at Chapman’s Mortuary after noon on Tuesday.
