Roger Lee Merritt, 68, of Barboursville, WV, went to be with his Lord (and his daughters) on Tuesday July 1, 2014 at his residence. Funeral service will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday July 3, 2014 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Bob Hogsett officiating. Roger was born May 27, 1946 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Jake & Doris Nottingham Merritt. He was retired from Engines Inc. He was Baptist by faith and a Solider in the Salvation Army. Two daughters, Joanna Lee Merritt & Cathy Jakette Moffett, 1 brother, Jimmy Dale Merritt & 1 granddaughter, Emmalee Adkins, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Phyllis Adkins-Merritt, two sons, Tim Merritt & Derrick Adams & one daughter, Velvadena Adkins all of Huntington, 8 grandchildren, one brother, Michael Merritt of Huntington, two sisters, Doris Dolin of Glenwood, WV & Carrie Faye Spurlock of Milton, WV. Roger loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friends may call at Chapman’s Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday.
