Obituary

Joseph Anthony Gleichauf
(December 25, 1933 - July 24, 2014)



Joseph Anthony Gleichauf passed away on July 24, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Joseph was a Christmas baby, born on December 25, 1933 and shared his gifts with many. He is survived by a loving daughter, Katrina Gleichauf Jefferson, owner of TLC Therapeutic Services; two grandsons, Ryan Patrick Jefferson, Director of Lincoln County Green Wastewater Treatment; 1st Lieutenant Aaron Craig Jefferson, of the United States Army; Mrs. Judith A. Gleichauf; a sister, Sister Jutta Gleichauf of the Sisters of St. Francis in Rochester, MN; three nephews, four nieces; and his beloved dog, 'Prissy'. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Gleichauf;; mother, Hilda Gleichauf; sisters Clara Handley- Holihan and Veronica Thistle; and brother Carl Gleichauf. Joe was a star basketball player with the St. Joe Flyers "Famous Five" basketball team of Ironton, OH. He was a graduate of Xavior University in Cincinnati, Oh with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and retired as the Senior Maintenance Planning Engineer of INCO. He was a business owner and served as President of the Tri-State Management Club, winning the Award of Excellence four times with the National Management Association. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Huntington, WV, a founding member of the St. Joe Men's Club and former member of Knights of Columbus. Joe was an example of integrity. His smile, sense of humor and present help in time of need are cherished and will be missed. The blessing of his wisdom, guidance and love will continue to serve, support and be shared through the many lives he has touched. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:0 am, Monday, July 28, 2014 at St; Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Dean Borgmeyer officiating. Inurnment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends nay call at Chapman’s Mortuary from 6 pm until 8 pm Sunday July 27, 2008, with the Rosary being said at 8:00 pm.
