Albert Law Tenney, Jr.
(November 6, 1931 - July 30, 2014)



Albert Law Tenney, Jr., 82, of Huntington, WV, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in the Woodlands Retirement Community. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Cross Roads United Methodist Church, Huntington, with Pastor Joseph Hill and Pastor Bill DeMoss officiating. Entombment will be in Woodmere Memorial Park Abbey of Remembrance, Corridor of Faith, Huntington. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Western Star #11 AF & AM and Military graveside rites will be conducted by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16. He was born November 6, 1931 in Mt. Clair, (Harrison County), WV, a son of the late Albert Law Tenney, Sr. and Viola Columbia Gooden Tenney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Alma (James) Cox, Ina (John) Hersman, Lena (Wayman) Cousins, Agnes Payne, and Wilda (Rev. James) Chenoweth; and a brother-in-law, Joe Glen Harrison. Albert was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an administrator for the Cabell County Board of Education having retired from the Cabell County Vo-Tech Center and was one of the original owners of Ashton Riverview Campground. He was a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church; Guyandotte Chapter # 89 OES, Western Star Lodge #11 AF & AM, Huntington Scottish Rite 33°, Beni Kedem Shrine where he was Past Potentate; Emeritus member of Board of Governors Shriner’s Burn Hospital in Cincinnati; National Principal Association; WV Principal Association; and Guyandotte Chapter #10 RAM, where he was Past High Priesthood. Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Wanda F. Insco Tenney; his goddaughter, Linda Fowler Johnson and her husband, Irv Johnson; his grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew) Steele and Nicholas Johnson; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Paul Tenney and Thomas (Helen) Tenney; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Meta Harrison, Jean (John) Warner and Bettie (Tom) Garvey; a brother-in-law, William Payne; his godson, Steve Fowler, his wife, Marsha, and their daughter, Molly; and several nieces; nephews; grand nieces and grand nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, August 1, 2014, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, and from noon to 1:00 pm Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the church. Donations may be made to Cross Roads United Methodist Church Steeple Repair Fund at 3146 Saltwell Road, Huntington, WV 25705.
