Gracie "Jean" Brotherton, 94, of Huntington, WV, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015, in Heritage Center, Huntington. Jean was born November 5, 1921 in Cabell County, WV a daughter of the late Oscar Lee and Aretta Esther Morris Chapman. Her husband, Rev. Frank Brotherton; a daughter, Vicky Jo Cupp; five brothers; two sisters; and her friend, Katie Stephenson and Ellen Dewees also preceded her in death. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include: a daughter, Sheila (Rex) Cupp of Fraziers Bottom, WV; five grandchildren, including a special grandson who helped take care of her throughout the last 15 years, Andy Cupp; 15 great grandchildren, two brothers, Carl (Rosie) Chapman and Richard (Peggy) Chapman, all of Ona, WV; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Inez Jenkins; and special friends, Thelma Pieraccini and Willa Chapman. The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Center for their loving care. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Monday, December 21, 2015, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, by Pastor Wondell Wright. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to noon Monday at Chapman's Mortuary.
