James R. Hicks, 80, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2015. He was born June 9, 1935, in Huntington, WV to the late James and Lora Bragg Hicks. He was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Clark and grandson Braxton Adkins. James retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers, and attended First Huntington Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Elizabeth Adkins Hicks; son Bane Hicks of Huntington, step-daughter Kim Chinn of Proctorville, OH, step-son Troy Adkins (Maria) of Huntington; six grandchildren, Brennen, Brandt and Brookelynn Adkins, Ashlee and Ian Chinn, and Chelsea Hicks; nephews Jeff (Sheila) Clark of Proctorville, and David Clark of Chesapeake; nieces, Susan (Roger) White of Willow Wood, OH, and Darla (Jeff) Lyon of Proctorville; brother-in-law, Leonard Clark of Proctorville, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Chapman's Mortuary, with Dallas Moore officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to service time Sunday at the funeral home.
