He was born November 5, 1925, in Huntington, a son of the late Guy and Stella Adkins Fry. A son, Thomas Payne Fry, and two sisters, Octavine Thacker and Genevive Peters also preceded him in death. Shortly after, he was employed by the Twentieth Street Bank as a bookkeeper, working there 47 years, and retiring as Senior Vice President and Head Cashier in 1991. His signature style of business, was to turn customers into lifelong friends and doing all he could for them. Always both learning and teaching, he graduated from the University of Michigan, Graduate School of Banking Management at the age of 55. He also taught many AIB banking classes. A 25 year member of the American Cancer Society, he held almost every office in the organization, helping create their Annual Crusade, first at BandB Grocery, and spreading it to businesses across the city and state. Carroll also aided in the Cabell County Coalition for the Homeless, building Harmony House and quietly helping other community charities. A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Chapman's Mortuary. Friends may visit with the family from noon until 2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
