Obituary

On October 20, 2015, Elizabeth Ann Ridenour Bias, 55, of Olive Branch, MS, slipped quietly and peacefully, into the arms of Jesus, after a two year battle with ALS. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 pm Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Community of Grace United Methodist Church, with Reverend Tom Buckley, and Pastor Steve Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Bias Family Cemetery, Salt Rock WV. She was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Ridenour, and all of her grandparents. Liz graduated from Marshall University with a Paralegal degree, and went on to hold several positions in her field, even working from home when she was no longer able to drive. Her co-workers loved her, and she loved them. She was an inspiration to so many people, even in the face of adversity, and tackled everything she did, with determination. The one thing that people always commented on, was Liz's infectious smile. She could always brighten an otherwise gloomy day, and you always felt better after walking away. While growing up, Liz attended Highlawn United Methodist Church, and after moving to Mississippi with her husband, in 1989, she called Maples Memorial United Methodist Church her home. She loved her church family, and was involved in all aspects of the church, from VBS, to Habitat for Humanity, to preparing meals for special occasions. She was a member of the Joy Sunday School class, the United Methodist Women, the Unity Circle, and also sang in the choir with a beautiful soprano voice. She also had a special group of women she played Bunco with. Known to her friends and family, as being a wonderful cook, which was her favorite pastime, Liz was always trying out new recipes on the family, before she fed them to someone else! Loved by so many because of her sweet personality, and willingness to help others, she was the one that people turned to, to get things done. Liz is survived by her husband of 30 years, David E Bias, a son and daughter in law, Richard and Stacey Bias, her father Harold Ridenour, one sister and brother in law, Brenda and Brian Johnson, two brothers, Michael and Mark Ridenour, father in law and mother in law, David and Mary Bias, a brother in law and sister in law, Paul and Michelle Bias, three grandchildren Khaylie, RJ, and Skylar, a host of nieces and nephews who loved her to the moon and back, and several special friends. Friends may call from 11:00 to service time Saturday, October 24, 2015, at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch, MS, or to the Memphis ALS Association. Chapman's Mortuary Huntington is assisting the family.
