Joyce "Joy" Blankenship, 71, of Huntington, WV, died Sunday, October 11, 2015, at her home in Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Bill DeMoss officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Joyce was born November 8, 1943 in Cabell County, WV, a daughter of the late Reverend Charles and Martha Louise She Rowsey Plybon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was lovingly called "Gran". Joy served as an active member and officer of the Cabell County Democratic Women's Club. She was also preceded in death by her husband, JR Blankenship and three brothers, Jim, John, and Sonny Plybon. Survivors include her two sons, Rob Blankenship and Tammy Graham of Huntington, Jeff Blankenship and wife Cathy of South Point, OH; 5 grandchildren, Lauren Werthammer (Nick) of Huntington, Whitney Blankenship (Raphael) of Caen, France, Katie Blankenship (Morgan) of Milton, Elizabeth Putnam (Kevin) of Amissville, VA, and Alex Blankenship (Lauren) of Magnolia, DE, two great grandchildren, Kyleigh Hazelett of VA and Lilly Kate Werthammer of Huntington; one brother-in-law Ray Blankenship and wife Betty of Huntington; and special caretakers and friends, Lisa Owens and Tanya Lawhon. Pallbearers will be Alex Blankenship, Nick Werthammer, Morgan Moses, Scott Blankenship, Jay Hatcher, and Christopher Hatcher. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 13, 2015.
