Obituary


Charles Leonard Blankenship, 87, of Huntington, WV, widower of Karlene Blankenship, died Monday July 2, 2018 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Charles was born March 5, 1931 in Mingo, County, WV a son of the late William and Carline Scaggs Blankenship. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War, retired from the WV Department of Highways and was a lifetime Master of the National Bridge Association. He was also preceded in death one grandson, Nathan Blankenship and one brother, Jim Blankenship. Survivors include one daughter, Lori (Steven) Robinson of Huntington, three sons, Stephen (Cindy) Blankenship of San Antonio, Tx, Jeff Blankenship of Houston, TX, and David (Kathy) Blankenship of Santa Fe, TX, seven grandchildren, Joshua Vergenz of Wilmington, NC, Jeremy Vergenz of Huntington, Eric Messersmith of PA, Kayla Blankenship of Houston, Clayton Blankenship of San Antonia, Charlie and Katherine Blankenship both of Santa Fe, two great grandchildren, Braxton and Carter Blankenship.
