Obituary



Mike Carter, Jr., 88, of Lesage, WV, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018, in Lesage. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, August 3, 2018, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Jamie Jefferson officiating. Burial will be in Greenbottom Memorial Park with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. He was born December 23, 1929 in Cabell County, WV a son of the late Mike Carter, Sr. and Alma Floyd Carter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jewell A. Carter; a son, Ronald Carter; four sisters, Elizabeth Riley, Bessie Knight, Mayme Floyd, and Lee Carter; and four brothers, Chester "Buddy" Carter, Denver Carter, Irvin Carter, and Jasper Carter. He was retired from the former C and O Railroad. Survivors include: five daughters and three sons-in-law, Sandy Miller of Branchland, WV, Claudia (Rick) Cary of Barboursville, WV, Carla "Sue" (Jerry) Meadows of Lesage, Denise Stapleton of Lavalette, WV, and Dartha (Chris) Brumfield of Lesage; six sons and a daughter-in-law, Denver Carter of Huntington, Mike David Carter of Branchland, Kenny Carter of Lexington, KY, Jeff (Yvonne) Carter of Lesage, Kirk Carter of Glenwood, WV, and Doug Carter of Sandusky, OH; a daughter-in-law, Janet Carter of Proctorville, OH; 24 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Marilyn Floyd of Lesage. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Chapman's Mortuary.
