Obituary



Lovetta "Sissy" Qualls McComas, passed away on July 26, 2018, in Huntington, WV. She was born in Logan WV, a daughter of the late Bernie and Bessie Thomas Qualls. Sissy graduated from the Huntington Barber College. She eventually opened her own barber shop becoming one of the first women barbers in Huntington. In addition to operating her own shop, she was the barber of the Veterans Administration Hospital for many years. She enjoyed collecting Fenton glass, and enjoyed buying and selling vintage glass, jewelry, dolls and clothes. She was a people person who loved talking to others with similar interests. She also enjoyed the simple things in life like taking rides, having cookouts, spending time with her family and pets, and sitting on her porch watching nature. Lovetta lived a long life and will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her many siblings, Eldie Qualls, Geraldine Qualls Spriggs, Virginia Qualls, Ermie Qualls, Ivan Qualls, Pauline Qualls Jones, Alvie Qualls I, Opal Qualls and Bernease Qualls. Lovetta is survived by her husband Richard McComas; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Roger Jarvis; two grandchildren, Richie and Sarah Jarvis; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Woodmere Memorial Park Abbey of Remembrance, with Rev. Chris Perkins officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation 12:30 to 1:30 pm Monday, July 30 at Chapman's Mortuary. The procession will leave for the cemetery at 1:45 pm.
