Janice Irene Burns, 77, of Huntington, WV, died Tuesday September 4, 2018 at her residence. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday September 7, 2018 at the Abbey of Peace, Woodmere Memorial Park, with Pastor Ken Toler officiating. Janice was born January 19, 1941 in Salt Rock, WV a daughter of the late Lon and Blanche Walker Midkiff. She was a member of Trinity Church of God. She was also preceded in death by her husband Harlan M. Burns, one brother, Lon Midkiff, Jr and a son-in-law, Terry Mays. Survivors two daughters, Sherry Singer and husband Stephen of Huntington, and Sandra Mays of Ona, WV, two grandchildren, Evan Singer and wife Amy and Adam Singer and Robyn Canady, one great grandson, Ethan Singer, one sister, Shirley Carr of Lexington, VA and one brother, Sherrill Midkiff of Huntington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to J.D.R.F. Our mom, Janice Midkiff Burns, lost her battle with lung cancer yesterday, September 4, 2018. She fought bravely and without complaint, for 4 years. She loved children, in general...and adored her grandsons, most especially, her great grandson, Ethan. She loved her friends and neighbors, politics, food, MU sports, and laughter. She fiercely loved her family and God. She was kind, generous, and funny. We miss her now, and will from now on. I found a little card yesterday at her house while she was still here, and it said: "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry a heavy burden and I will give you rest." Matthew 12:28. I guess it was there for a reason. Love you, Mom. Visitation will be from 10:30 until 11:00 AM Friday at the cemetery. Chapman's Mortuary Huntington is assisting the family.
