Obituary
Rev. Charles Albert Childers, 91, of
South Point, OH, went home to be with the Lord Friday September 7, 2018 at
Cabell Huntington Hospital. Graveside funeral service will be conducted 2:00
PM Wednesday September 12, 2018 at Spring Valley Memory Gardens with his
son-in-law Pastor Bobby Young officiating. Charles was born April 8, 1927 in
Huntington, WV a son of the late Horace Ivan and Pearl McCaffrey Childers.
He was a Minister and a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War,
receiving a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He was the founding Pastor of
Living Waters Revival Center in Huntington where he is a member and attended
when not in revivals. He was a master carpenter by trade but became a
full-time minister and evangelist for over 60 years traveling throughout the
country, as well as Mexico, Canada and Jamaica preaching the Gospel. He also
pastored in Johnson City TN as well as a Navajo Indian Mission Church in
Farmington, NM also preaching at several Indian reservation churches. He was
preceded in death by his brother, Ivan Endle Childers, his in-laws, Charles
and Emaline Bailey, a son-in-law, Jerry Young and a brother-in-law, Charles
Bailey. Survivors include his wife Maxine Bailey Childers, three daughters,
Patricia Young, Sharon (Roger) Booth and Trina (Bobby) Young, all of South
Point OH. Charles is also survived by 10 grandchildren, his pride and joy
Chuck Brady, Marie Peele, Wayne Young, Judy Montano, Terry Young, Timmy
Young, Johnnie Mann, Vickie Harris, Carl Mann, Tonya Weaver, 27 great
grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, special brother-in-law and 2
sisters-in-law, Carl and Juanita Bailey and Betty Bailey, many cousins,
nieces, nephews, family, friends and church family. The family would like to
send a special thanks to the Doctors and staff at the VA Medical Center,
Cabell Huntington Hospital and the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center for
all their loving care and support. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct
Military Graveside Rites. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM
Wednesday at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington. The funeral procession will
leave at 1:30 PM going to the cemetery.
