John Douglas Ward
(February 4, 1945 - March 10, 2018)



JOHN DOUGLAS WARD, 73, of Barboursville, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Ward, on March 6, 2018. Joint funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Willie Mays. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born February 4, 1945, in Wayne County, a son of the late Brady and Sadie Mullins Ward. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. He is survived by daughters, Patricia Chaffin of Barboursville, Ella Roe of Lavalette, Delores Smith of Barboursville, Shanna Blankenship of Lavalette, Misty McCoy of Ripley, W.Va., and Sherry Crum Mayo of Huntington; sons, Brian Chaffin of Huntington and Rodney Chaffin of Ky.; sisters, Elizabeth Hohman of Zelinople, Pa., Cora Dixon of Ceredo, Dorothy Williams of Ceredo and Donna Neff of Grayson, Ky.; brothers, Brady Ward Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., and Joseph Ward of Wayne; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Monday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
