CAROLYN GRACE THOMPSON, 61, of Huntington, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at her home. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, Pastor Darrell Huffman officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., before the services. Surviving are her son Jay, his wife Nicki and her three grandchildren, Sam, Max and Mia Thompson. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Bob LaFon, Linda Eplion and Brenda Willey, all of Huntington, Bill LaFon and his wife Charlotte of South Point, Ohio, and Gloria Banton of Thomasville, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Blanche and Willard LaFon and her sister Janet Ballinger. She was a mother who was willing to sacrifice for her family and will be remembered for her unselfish giving. The burdens of life have fallen away and she'll live on in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to the Lavalette Volunteer Fire Department.
