Edith Lorene Johnston Blake Adkins
(January 22, 1933 - December 3, 2013)


Edith Lorene Johnston Blake Adkins, 80, of Huntington, widow of Asa Blake, passed away Tuesday December 3, 2013 at her residence. She was born January 22, 1933, in West Hamlin, Lincoln County, WV, the daughter of the late Basil and Elva King Johnston. Others preceding her in death were two sons at birth, three sisters, Mable France, Ruby Marsh, and Dimple Phelps, and two brothers, Buddy Johnston and Tony Lewis. She was a homemaker and a foster “Granny” for 14 years at Children’s Place, and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Upton, WV. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Tom Rone of Huntington, and Teresa and Clyde Pigg of Louisa, KY; a step daughter, Kitty Dawson; two grandsons, Michael Music and Steven Music of Huntington; a great granddaughter, Olivia Music; four brothers, Franklin Johnston, Charles W. “Wes” Johnston, Crawford Johnston, and Jerry Johnston; and a sister, Rosemary Raines. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday December 5, 2013 at Chapman’s Mortuary with Rev. Paul Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Bias Cemetery, Lincoln Co. Friends may visit one hour prior to services Thursday at Chapman’s Mortuary.
