Mary Joyce Cogan

Mary Joyce Cogan 83, of Huntington, widow of Carl Raymond Cogan passed away Monday December 23, 2013 in Heartland of Riverview, South Point, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Friday December 27, 2013 at Chapman’s Mortuary, with Dr. Gary L. Patton, PhD. officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. She was born January 1, 1930, in Wylam, AL., a daughter of the late William L. “Willie” and Alvine Pearson Martin. In addition to her parents and husband, one brother, Charles Martin, a sister Marie Roy, and an infant sister Doris Martin also preceded her in death. She retired from Presbyterian Manor as a ward clerk, volunteered at the American Red Cross and Cabell Huntington Hospital, and was a member of Mount Union Baptist Church, Lesage. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carla Stone and Dr. Richard Stone of Richmond, KY; Janice and Donald Gossett of Huntington; one sister, Sidney Martin of Birmingham, AL; brother and sister-in-law, Terrell and Betty Martin of Adamsville, AL; 7 grandchildren, Melanie Kristine Gossett and Allison Rae Gossett both of Huntington, Erin Stone Wesol and husband Nick of Bristow, VA, Jacob Richard Stone of Lexington, KY, Rachel Marie Hall and husband Adam of Charleston, SC, James Carlton Stone and Spencer Adam Stone both of Richmond, KY;, three great-grandchildren, Beckett and Quinn Wesol and Judah Stone; special friend, Donna Hagley and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call one hour prior to service time Friday at the funeral home.
