Ernestine Hager Staton
(March 26, 1932 - December 17, 2013)


Ernestine Hager Staton, 81, of Huntington, WV, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, December 20, 2013, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Brian Schneider, Pastor Terry Jesse, and Pastor Leo Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton, WV. She was born March 26, 1932 in Ransom, KY a daughter of the late Dewey and Martha Dotson Hager. Her husband, Medley Staton; an infant son, Gregory Lee Staton; a sister, Edith Hatfield, and three brothers, Albert Vipperman, Alfred Vipperman, and Dewey Hager, Jr., also preceded her in death. She was a retired teacher, having taught in Kentucky and Cabell County, WV. She was a member of First Guyandotte Baptist Church for 54 years. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and John K. Trivette of Lexington, KY; a son and daughter-in-law, David K. Staton and Dr. Margarita Lassaletta Staton of Wadsworth, OH; a sister and brother-in-law, Shelby and Eugene Adams of Adairsville, GA; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Claude Vipperman of Mt. Dora, FL and Robert and Imogene Vipperman of Huntington; sister-in-law Brenda Hager of Nancy, KY; and several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Chapman’s Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Guyandotte Baptist Church, 219 Richmond Street, Huntington, WV 25702.
