Obituary

Oscar Fowler
(February 4, 1927 - October 23, 2014)



Oscar Fowler 87, of Huntington, passed away Thursday October 23, 2014, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Chapman’s Mortuary, with Pastor John M. Duffy officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park with Military graveside rites conducted by WV Veterans Honor Guard Post 16. He was born February 4, 1927, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Oscar Fowler, Sr., and Bertha Gaeger Fowler. One sister, Gloria DeVore also preceded him in death. He retired from AEP as an electrical engineer, was a member of BPOE Lodge #313 Huntington, whose members will conduct a service during the funeral, a was a US Navy Seebee serving in the Philippines during WWII, a member of VFW Post 9738, and the American Legion Post 16. Survivors include; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Sue Fowler of Barboursville, WV, Cathy and Carol David Shidal of Wilmington, NC; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Sheila Fowler of Huntington; three grandchildren, Timothy Shidal and Chuck and Katie Shidal all of Wilmington, and Rebecca Fowler of Barboursville; one great-granddaughter, Kaleigh Shidal; two nephews, Frank Fowler II, of Charleston, WV, and Alan Fowler of Huntington; two nieces Patty and Debbie; and the mother of his children Betty Hicks. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
