Peggy Sowards Butcher, 83, of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016, at her residence. She was born December 30, 1932 in Rome, OH a daughter of the late William Ottie and Ivy White Sowards. Her husband, Perry H. Butcher, also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of VFW Post 1064 Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include: a son, Tom Butcher of Huntington; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Gary Hesson of Middletown, PA; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Bobbie Hawkins of Kingston, TN, Ruth Midkiff of Huntington, Reba and Dave Gothard of Cary, NC, and Carol Fuller of Kenova, WV; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Buckley Sowards of Cleveland, OH, William E. Sowards of Salt Rock, WV, and David and Eliza Sowards of Barboursville, WV; a sister-in-law and her husband, Marcella and Jim O'Lynn of Barboursville, WV; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Private services will be scheduled at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
