Obituary



Clarence Sidney Adkins, 75, of Huntington, widower of Xenil Mary Adkins, died July 2, 2016 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington, with Rev. Bill Adkins officiating. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, with WV Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 conducting military graveside rites. He was born November 28, 1940, in Midkiff, WV Lincoln County, a son of the late Roscoe and Ruby Dent Adkins. Nine siblings and three step-children also preceded him in death. He and his late wife Mary were the owners/operators of the Loan Oak Restaurant. He was a U S Army veteran, serving during the Korean War, a member of VFW Post 9738, Guyandotte, and a member of the D.A.V. Survivors include: one daughter and her husband, Connie and Thomas Wayt of Mingo Junction Ohio; one son and his wife, Sidney Ray and Betty Jo Adkins of Newnan, GA; step-daughter Renee Wagers of Huntington; two sisters, Hope Cooper of Midkiff, WV, and Leta Eck of Delaware; a brother and his wife, Ralph L. and Mary Catherine Adkins of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and one step great-granddaughter. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
