Obituary



Marilyn Sue Allen, 68, of Huntington, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at her residence, after fighting a long hard battle with cancer. She was born April 30, 1948 in Beckley, WV, a daughter of the late Jack Carl and Theda Melba Cline Collins. A sister, Regina Collins also preceded her in death. She was a former advertising director for the Greater Huntington Theater Group, was known to all by, "Marilyn at the Movies" on WKEE FM, and coached cheerleading for over 30 years. She developed lifelong relationships with her girls after molding and developing them into women through cheerleading. Survivors include a daughter, Tamara Utt of Huntington; son, Ritchie Allen of Huntington; two grandchildren, Britney Utt and Darrell Utt II, both of Whispering Pines, NC; a sister, Sharon Flowers of Huntington; and a brother, Robert "Buba" Collins of Huntington. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, July 17, 2016, at the Moose Lodge 4341 US Route 60 (Eastern Heights), Huntington in her honor. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to go directly towards a Cheer for Marilyn scholarship fund that her grandson is setting up.
