Obituary



Larry G. Childers, 78, of Huntington, WV, passed away on Saturday December 16, 2017. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday December 20, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Pastors Jerry Matt and Keith Wiebe, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Larry was born July 6, 1939 the son of the late Clarence and Georgia Sheppard Childers. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roy E. Childers and brother-in-law Jerry Jenkins. Larry was employed by Huntington Alloys for 28 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a longtime member of the Mayo Sportmans Club. Larry was also an avid golfer and had 2 hole-in-ones in his lifetime. Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Glenna Sue Childers: 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Lori Joyce (Joe) and Leigh Ann Irvin (Kevin); 4 grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, and Jonathan Joyce and Kirsten Irvin. He is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Lorraine Childers and Cathy Jenkins; and nieces Sandra Massa (Joseph) and Jera Eudy (Billy). Friends may call from 12:00 until 2:00 PM before the service Wednesday at Chapman's Mortuary.
