Sonja Cremeans
(September 25, 1965 - August 13, 2010)



Sonja Cremeans, 44, of Florence, Colorado, loving mother, child, and sister, passed from this life on August 13, 2010 in Colorado Springs, CO, after a brief illness. Sonja was born on September 25, 1965 in Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV. Sonja graduated from Huntington High School and shortly after, she attended Kansas City College, Kansas, where she achieved her medical assistant degree. Sonja graduated with Honors and as Valedictorian of her graduating class. While her former husband, Darrell Allan Dempsey, served in the Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Sonja functioned as a housewife and mother. Sonja was the daughter of the late, James Edward Cremeans, and Elsie Marie Fulmer and Melvin (Poppy) Fulmer. Sonja was preceded in death by her father, James Edward Cremeans and her youngest son, Michael Hunter Dempsey. Sonja was a loving mother to her three children, Damian Allan Dempsey, Brandi Nicole Dempsey, and Michael Hunter Dempsey. She was a loving sister to brother, James Howard Cremeans and sister, Cynthia Lynn Cremeans Adkins. Sonja was a loving aunt to Christopher Michael Craft, Steven Hartzell Adkins, and Brandon Creger Cremeans. She was also great aunt to Kyra Danielle Craft and Chrissa Lynn Craft. Sonja accepted Jesus as her personal savior as a young child growing up in Huntington, WV. The visitation will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010, from noon to 2:00 PM at Chapman's Mortuary. The funeral will be held at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, on Friday, at 2:00 PM with her uncle Ronnie Cremeans officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington.
