Everett
Michael Hines
(January 16, 1942 - August 6, 2010)
Mr. Everett (Mike) Hines, 68, of
Huntington, husband of Kathy Hines, completed his journey and is now in the
loving arms of Jesus. He passed away Friday, August, 6, 2010, at his
residence. He was born January 16, 1942, in Greenfield, OH, a son of the
late Melvin and Adalee Hines. He was preceded in death by his faithful and
beloved wife, Pam, of 35 years, his infant son, Patrick, and 2 brothers,
Forest and Press Leslie Hines, his grandparents, and numerous aunts and
uncles. Mike was in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in
Okinawa. In 1980, he was a Deputy Sheriff in Clark County, OH. He was a
licensed Master Electrician through the State of West Virginia, and worked
in Carpentry for more than 40 years. Mike was the 1999 recipient of the WSAZ
Hometown Hero award. He was in the Marine Corps League, where he was in
charge of the Toys for Tots program For more than 10 years, he was the
organizer of the Marshall University Homecoming Parade and the Huntington
Christmas Parade. He was also the President of the Huntington Planning
Committee. He also received other distinguished awards from the Governor and
the Mayor. Mike is survived by his wife, Kathy Hines; 3 children, Cindy
(Michael) Sergent, Rhonda (Rob) Moore, and David (Monica) Hines;
grandchildren, Ashley Johnston, Ashley Sergent, Steven Smith, Josh Smith,
Camber Moore, and Zion Moore; and a precious new great grandbaby, Gabrianna
"Gabby" Johnston. He is also survived by 3 stepdaughters, Emily, Amy and
Julie and 6 step grandchildren. He is survived by a sister Linda (Jim)
Miller. Mike was diehard Marshall fan. When he was well he attended all of
the scheduled games. Mike will be sadly missed by his family and all those
who knew him. The family will receive friends at Chapman's Mortuary,
Huntington from 5 pm until 7 pm Sunday August 8, 2010. Funeral services will
be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday August 10, 2010, at the Church of Christ in
Christian Union, Springfield, OH. Mike will be buried in Rose Hill Cemetery,
Springfield, OH. There will be a visitation at the Jones-Kennedy-Zechman
Funeral Home, 1002 E. High Street, Springfield, OH, 45505, from 5 pm until 8
pm Monday, August 9, 2010. GO HERD!
