Virginia Carr
(July 27,1919 - March 5, 2010)


Mrs. Virginia Carr, 90, of Huntington, widow of Melvin H. Carr, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary, with Pastor Darrell Huffman officiating. Burial will be in the Eureka Church Cemetery, Strange Creek (Braxton County), WV. She was born July 27, 1919 at Pax, WV, a daughter of the late Samuel Fleet Givens and Ruby Othel Morris Givens. She was a former Teacher. Surviving are 4 daughters; Zohanna Shaffer of Florida, Jennifer Grabill of Matthews, VA, Deborah Carr and Michele Wallace both of Huntington, and 3 sons; Melvin H. Carr, Jr, of Culloden, WV, Samuel Carr and Douglass, both of Huntington. Friends may call after 10 AM Tuesday March 9, 2010 at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington. Graveside services will be at 2:30 pm Tuesday March 9, 2010. Directions to the cemetery - Take I-64 East to Charleston. At Charleston follow I-79 North. Stay on I-79 N for about 45/60 minutes. Take Exit 46 (Servia/ Duck) and make a right at the bottom of the ramp. Follow this road to a tee in the road at the Elk River and make a left onto Route 4. Follow Rte. 4 for a few miles and make a right and cross the silver bridge onto Strange Creek Road. After crossing the bridge stay right and follow this road passing a church on the left. After passing the church stay left (County Route 42) down the hill and cross the bridge. Go about a mile or so and make a left up the hill onto County Route 40. (If you cross a creek you have gone too far. **Warning you don't want to cross this creek). Stay on Route 40 for about 2 miles. Eureka Church is on the left on a hill.
