Obituary

Edith Lorrain Mount Sullivan
(April 10, 1923 - March 6, 2010)

Edith Lorrain Mount Sullivan, youngest daughter of John Grover Mount and Lena Alice Kirtley Mount, left her mortal body and entered into the heavenly presence of God on March 6, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born on April 10, 1923 in Cabell County. She was a graduate of Huntington High School. She married Charles Otis Sullivan on July 10, 1941. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July of 1991. She worked at Owens Illinois while her husband was involved in combat during WW 11, and she served beside him at Scott-Sullivan, Inc. after its formation in 1954 until his death in 1994. She then continued to be an active owner, working daily until 2009 when her health began to decline. She was a superb bookkeeper and her absence at the family business will be a devastating loss. She was a devoted member of the 26th Street Baptist Church since 1952. She was a faithful choir member and served as pianist for the church. She taught Sunday School in the Primary Department, and the joy she received from the children's Christian learning was always a blessing. She was an active member of the Huntington Gideon Auxiliary. She served in many positions within the local auxiliary and helped distribute scriptures to others. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Phyllis Sullivan Bell, and her son-in-law, Vernon Reed Bell. Her grandson, Randall Shane Bell, and granddaughter, Ronda Lynn Bell were her pride and joy. She treasured her great grandchildren: Mytchell, MaKenzee, and MaKayla Bell. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Mount in 2009. She leaves behind one devoted sister, Elsie Mount Poynter and a very caring sister-in-law, Kathlene Earles, both of Huntington. She will be missed by her nieces, Lynnette Spreacker and Jennifer York. She also leaves behind two nephews: Sidney Poynter of El Paso, TX and Andrew Earles of Huntington. She valued the friendship for over 50yrs. of her close friend, Mary May, and she appreciated the companionship of Barbara Bell who was compassionately by her side when she was needed. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, WV on Friday, March 12th from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 PM. A Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Sat., March 13th at the 26th Street Baptist Church (2510 - 10th Ave.) with the assistance of Pastor Tim Arthur, Rev. Clyde Carter, and Rev. Basil Hudson. She will be taken to the church an hour prior to the memorial service. Entombment will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park's Abbey of Devotion where she will rest with her loving, faithful husband, Otis Sullivan. Pallbearers will be Rick Adkins, Rick Arthur, Larry Bias, Perry Mason, Jerry Rice & Dudley Vititoe. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Joyce, Raymond May, Orbura Meadows & Jack Turner. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Gideon, Hunt. Camp #4706E, P.O. Box 8212, Huntington, WV 25705.
