Katherine D. Murray
(March 29, 1922 - March 5, 2010)



Katherine D. Murray, 87, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Huntington, WV, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010, in Cypress Village, Jacksonville. Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 pm Friday, March 12, 2010 at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. R. J. Chenoweth, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Katherine was born March 29, 1922, in Bowen, Wayne County WV, a daughter of the late Paul Harrison Davis, Sr., and Lucille Williams Davis. Her husband of 50 years, Charles E. Murray Jr. and two brothers, Paul H. Davis, Jr., and Frederick L. Davis, Sr., also preceded her in death. She was a 1940 graduate of Huntington High School, and a homemaker. She sang in the choir at the Bridge Street Methodist Church as young women and served as choir director prior to becoming a member of the former Highlawn United Methodist Church, where she served as interim secretary. She was a 50 year member of the Guyandotte Chapter #89 OES and she served as the organist. While living in Parkersburg WV she was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. Survivors include: one son, Dr. Peter M. Murray and his wife Pamela of Jacksonville, FL.; one sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Harold Ridenour of Huntington; one brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Anna Mae Davis of Marco Island, FL, one sister-in-law Jacqueline Miller of Spencer, WV and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be from 11:30 am to service time Friday at the funeral home.
