Virginia K. "Ginny" Young Bowen
(January 23, 1925 - September 29, 2010)


Virginia K. "Ginny" Young Bowen, 85, of Huntington, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in Saint Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, October 1, 2010 at Chapman's Mortuary, with Pastor Tim Arthur officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Bowen was born January 23, 1925, in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late William Clayton and Anna Thomas Young. One son, James "Sonny" Bowen, Jr., three sisters, Ethel Braley, Ruby Bird and Frances Young, and two brothers, William Young, Jr., and Wesley Young also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, a member of the former Walnut Hills Baptist Church, and attended Baptist Temple. Survivors include; her husband, James F. Bowen; one daughter, Sheila K. Byrd (David), and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Bowen all of Huntington; four grandchildren, Andy Bowen (Dawn) of Bridgeport, WV, Amy Maynard (Clyde) of Huntington, Todd Bowen (Faustina) of Point Pleasant, WV, Kathy Persinger (Shawn) of Proctorville, Ohio; 9 great-grandchildren, Kayla Byrd, Nikolas Maynard, Owen Chafin, Jacob Bowen, Isabella Bowen, Brooklyne Bowen, Brody Bowen, Kennedy Persinger, and Lucas Bowen; and several very special nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. All that knew her will sadly miss her. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday September 30, 2010, at the funeral home.
