Clyde Junior Spurlock
(August 1, 1927 - September 17, 2010)


Mr. Clyde Junior Spurlock, 83, of Lesage, widower of Eloise Spurlock, passed away Friday September 17, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 pm, Monday, September 20, 2010 at Chapman's Mortuary, with Rev. Gordon Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow in Union Ridge Cemetery. He was born August 1, 1927, at Glenwood, WV, a son of the late Robert Eustace and Nancy Ona Simpson Spurlock. He was a member of the Sunrise United Methodist Church, Glenwood, WV, and was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a machinist by trade, having worked for the C & O Railroad, Thomas O'Neal Machine Shop and INCO, where he retired in 1986.. He was well known for playing Bluegrass music all of his life, he played the piano, guitar, and banjo. Some of his best friends were people who came to his home any day of the week to play music. Over the years, Clyde taught himself many hobbies. He developed photos, repaired televisions and radios. After he retired, he did a lot of gardening, which he would share his bounty with his friends and neighbors. In addition th his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Chad M. Harshbarger, a sister, Louise May, and 2 brothers, Garland W. Spurlock, and Paul Spurlock. Surviving are 2 daughters and son-in-law; Linda F. (Harold L.) Harshbarger of Milton, Anita L. (Kenneth) Saunders of Ashton, a son and daughter-in-law, Eric D (Barbara) Spurlock of Glenwood, a brother who resided with Clyde, Harry Spurlock grandchildren, Danny K. (Katie) Saunders, Seth A. Harshbarger, Lauren Spurlock, and Michael Spurlock, and great grandchildren, Dustin and Dakota Saunders. He also had many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 6 pm until 8 pm Sunday. September 19, 2010 at Chapman's Mortuary.
