Ricky Charles Rockel
(September 15, 1959 - February 23, 2013)



Ricky Charles Rockel, 53, of Chesapeake, OH, formerly of Dingess, WV, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013, in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the Central Freewill Baptist Church at 6th Ave and 5th Street, Huntington, with Brother Jerry Graham and Deacon Jason Smith officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at 3:00 PM in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, WV, and a celebration of life gathering will be held Wednesday at 5:00 PM at the Cornerstone Christian Center, Dingess, WV. He was born on September 15, 1959 to the late Sherman and Mavis “Jane” Shrewsbury Rockel, in Dayton, OH. In addition to his parents, a brother, Scotty Rockel; a grandson, Tre Wilson; and a nephew, D.J. McCloud preceded him in death. Rick was a former member of Christ Temple Church. He was a former electrical foreman for L.E. Myers Electrical Contractors. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Debbie Muncy Rockel; two daughters, Brandy (Denny) Lambert of Dingess, WV, and Carrie (Dustin) Rockel of Chesapeake, OH; a son, Paul Rockel of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Seth Wilson, Hali Wilson, Trent Wilson, Gabriel Chapman, and Reagan Wilson; four brothers, Bobby (Glenda Joyce) Rockel of Dayton, OH, Larry (Debbie) Rockel of Dingess, David (Connie) Rockel of Williamson, WV, and Mark (Peggy) Rockel of Dingess; four sisters, Karen (Dennis) McCloud of Dingess, Robin (Larry) Charles of Logan, WV, Tonya (Benny) Browning of Kermit, WV, and Linda (Steve) Denny of Pleasant Garden, NC; his in-laws, Rick and Lisa Shirley, Tommy Muncy, and Linda and Jim Hutchinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends, including, James “Jimbo” Wellman. Rick was a devoted husband, father, and WVU Mountaineer fan. He loved fishing, watching football, and spending time with his family. Rick will always be remembered for his big heart and generosity to so many people. Donations may be made to Central Freewill Baptist Church in his name. Friends may visit 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday and after 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Central Free Will Baptist Church.
