Ethel Pauline Thompson
(October 19, 1922 - February 2, 2013)

Ethel Pauline Thompson, 90, of Huntington passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at River’s Bend Nursing Center. She was born on Oct. 19, 1922 in Wayne County, WV and the daughter of the late Clarence Victor Bailey and Blanche Fischbach Bailey. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Milton and brothers: Clarence Clifford (Mike) Bailey, Earl Bailey, and John Bailey. She is survived by sisters Eleanor Roach and husband, Gene, and Susan Parsons and a brother, Larry Bailey. She graduated from Wayne High School and immediately started working and did so until she retired from JC Penney at the age of 75. She was an active member and librarian at Grassy Valley Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. Upon returning to Huntington, she became a member of Bethel Temple Church.
Pauline was a lifelong Baptist that loved to talk about the teachings in the Bible. She started actively living a healthy lifestyle at a young age and versing others on the importance of taking vitamins and healthy eating. Her energy and love of life gave her the nickname “Cricket”. She will be sadly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. A heart felt thank you is extended to Midland Meadows Assisted Living and River’s Bend Nursing Center for the loving care given to her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington. Minister Hubert Harvey will perform a memorial service at Chapman’s Mortuary on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 4:00 PM. She will be buried in Knoxville, TN at Eastern Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with her husband, Milton.
