Mr. Charles W. Smith, 80, of Ceredo, WV, went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 24, 201, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was known as “Shorty” to all who loved him, and will be terribly missed. “Shorty” was a loving husband to Margaret Ann, and was preceded in death by his son Charles William Smith, Jr. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Michael Wayne Smith and his wife Susan, his grandchildren; Jessie, and Tony Hardesty, Michael Smith and Jenny, Drew Smith, and Amanda. He has two great granddaughters, Grace and Madelyn Perego. He is also survived by five brothers and two sisters, Roger, Arthur, Douglas, George, Howard, Wilma and Nanna Mae. He had many close nephews and nieces, and a very special niece, Sandra Perdue. His special friends David and Penny Caldwell, and he loved his two buddies, Duke and Mindy. He was a self employed Mechanic and Body Man, and was a veteran serving in the US Army during Korea. A memorial service will be conducted at 5:30 pm Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the Tri-State Worship Center, South Point, OH with Pastor Terry Wagner officiating. Veterans Honor Guard, Post 16, will conduct Military Honors. Chapman’s Mortuary is assisting the family.
