Obituary

JR ADKINS JR.
(August 21 1926 - February 28, 2014)



Roscoe (J.R.) Adkins, Jr., 87, of Huntington WV, passed away Friday February 28th,, 2014 at his residence. He was born August 21, 1926, in Huntington, WV. He was born to Roscoe Adkins and Flossie Lester Adkins. He is survived by his sister Kathy Dolen. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Norman, Harmon, and George. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eleanor (Pat) Pridemore Adkins; one son, Micheal Adkins and his wife Amy Adkins. Two grandchildren: Lafe Justin Adkins and his wife Michelle Adkins and Karri Adkins, and their mother, Donna Adkins. Four great grandchildren, Lafe Adkins, II, Gage Adkins, Trey Adkins and Trinity Gregory. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Maxine McComas, Jean Spurlock, Geraldine Adkins, along with several nieces and nephews. JR was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. He was a car dealer since 1950, and was an outdoorsman who loves fishing and hunting, He loved his family and his God. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Chapman’s Mortuary, with Rev. Phil Wilson and Rev. Okey Harless officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Friends may call after 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Flowers will be appreciated and donations may be made to the Harmony United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3800 Riverside Drive, Huntington, WV 25705.
