Obituary

Carolyn Marie Smith
(August 12, 1931 - February 3, 2014)



Carolyn Marie Smith, 82, of Proctorville, OH, wife of Robert “Bob” Smith, passed away Monday February, 3, 2014 at Heartland of Riverview, South Point, OH. She was born August 12, 1931 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Gentry and Gladys Catherine Clark Linton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Davis and Nancy Clark; and her stepfather, Hugh D. Shute. She was a graduate of Huntington East High School, a homemaker, and enjoyed Square Dancing and Ball Room Dancing. She belonged to the Mountaineer Square Dance Club, and several other local Ball Room Dance Clubs, and attended First Baptist Church of Proctorville. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Krissann Kimball of Proctorville; two sons and daughters in law, Robert and Mary Beth Smith of Calabash, NC, and James Michael and Rita Smith of Baton Rouge, LA; five grandchildren, Jerrin Elizabeth Martus, Eric Smith and spouse, Katie Smith, Doug Smith and spouse, Audrey Smith, Mallorie Smith, Dustin Kimball and spouse, Carrie Kimball; four great grandchildren, Kyle Martus, Dustin Lee Kimball, Conor Smith, and Molly Smith; and a stepbrother, Butch Shute. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday February 6, 2014 at Chapman’s Mortuary with Pastor Jeff Black officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family after 1:00 pm Thursday before the service at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington.
