Obituary


Alma Adeline Smith, 94, of Ansted, WV, formerly of Huntington, widow of James Hanson "Hank" Smith, Sr., died Thursday, November 1, 2018 in Fayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fayetteville, WV. She was born January 6, 1924 in Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles Andrew and Effie Peal Fuller Lemley. Alma had several family members predecease her including a son, James H. Smith, Jr; a son-in-law, Jack Miller; and 11 siblings. She was a former clerk with Stone and Thomas Department Store, a member of the former Highlawn Baptist Church, and a member of Guyandotte Chapter 89 O.E.S. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra "Sue" Miller of Ansted, WV; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Smith; six grandchildren and spouses, Cary (Barbara) Miller, John (Kim) Miller, Jeretta (Rick) Ford, Jack A. (Tina) Miller, Melissa Smith Thomas, and James H. Smith, III; nine great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM Monday, November 5, 2018 at Chapman's Mortuary with Pastor George Secrist officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Friends may visit family after 11:00 am Monday at Chapman's Mortuary.
